BEACH BABIES (1930)

APC - BLOG LOGO (540x540)

Welcome to American Photo Colorizing .com’s photo blog.
The year is 1930. The place: Highland Beach, Maryland. I’m trying to fit in some beach images from the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, by Labor Day. I love this 1930 photograph. I love the girls in their old-time swim suits. But most of all – I love the . . . no, I absolutely LOVE the awesomely cool convertible that got them there. Ohhh, the cruisin’ I would’ve done as a teenager in this majestic tin can! Mmmm-mmmmmm!!

The year is 1917. Don’t know too much about this vintage photo, except it shows a biplane being transported through the streets of Detroit, Michigan. To the left of the plane is a Lancia Simplex automobile showroom. The vehicle appears to be a modified Lancia Simplex – so this may be some sort of promotional event for the dealership.

Lancia Simplex discontinued their automobile line in 1917, when the U.S. entered World War I. That being the case, perhaps this scene was part of a Bond Drive. It’s certainly a great photo, whatever the back story.

At American Photo Colorizing, our goal is to shred the black & white veil that separates us from the exciting, vibrant lives of those who came before us. It’s time to “Go Color” with your vintage and antique family photos. Your ancestors are counting on you!

The year is 1929. Here’s Main Street in beautiful downtown Ventura, California – which happens to be the hometown of American Photo Colorizing.com. This area of town looks pretty much as it does today – except the names on the stores are different, and the street traffic let’s you know you’re looking at a summer’s day 85 years ago.
