The year is 1924. This photo is proof that not all the bird-brained ideas in Washington, DC are forged on Capitol Hill. Somebody got the bright idea that if you fashion a cow-catcher, like the ones that adorned the front of locomotives – and you attach it to the front of an automobile . . . you could catch slow-moving pedestrians in it – rather than flattening them like a pancake. Ahhh, only in America.
