Welcome to the American Photo photo blog.
The year is 1890. At first glance, the thin man with black hair and piercing blue-gray eyes could be composer-guitarist, Frank Zappa. But he isn’t – though he could almost be a “Mother of Invention”.

This is an early photo of inventor-engineer-visionary, Nikola Tesla. Tesla is best known for his work in Electricity, particularly with the design of the Alternating Current (A/C).
